www.chamdot.comThe NBA Playoffs are over, and James is no longer in Zero Dark Thirty mode. The basketball world’s attention is still firmly fixed on the King however as he heads into a summer of unrestricted free agency that will shift the power balance in the NBA. Will he stay in Cleveland? Will he head to LA and team up with Paul George? Will he convince Kevin Durant to leave the Warriors and found a new super-team in the Easter Conference? Nobody knows where the King will chose to establish his throne yet, but Nike is making sure that his summer footwear will be right as he searches, as two new LeBron Soldier 12 colorways have been unvieled: a “Summit White” and a black/red.
Throughout James’ illustrious signature line of shoes with Nike, he has had a number of iterations inspired by melons and other types of fruit. From the LeBron 10 Low “Watermelon” to the LeBron 10 Low “Raspberry Red”, food has become a perfect descriptor for the King’s sneakers. Next up, is the LeBron 15 Low dressed in a combination of Teal Tint and Sunset Pulse, creating a tropical aesthetic that lends to a “Melon” monicker. Its flyknit-infused upper ushers in Cool Grey for contrast, while its stark white midsole calls upon an attractive speckled pattern with black to match its laces and instep
Just yesterday, we brought you a first look at official images of a “Blackout” colorway of the 4, and now it appears that the low version of LeBron’s 15th signature sneaker will be dressed that same way. Sporting an entirely black color scheme, it is reminiscent of the King’s “Zero Dark Thirty” aesthetic that comes into play during the playoffs each year, where he shuts himself off from the world of social media. While that Kyrie 4 featured a slight presence of grey on its marbled outsole, this new 15 Low comes devoid of any reprise from that completely blacked out aesthetic.
15 silhouette utilizes its Flyknit construction to the fullest by incorporating multi-color aesthetics onto its upper with the use of its flexible color blocking. Just like the original, the 15 Low features Flyknit as well, and this brand new Signal Blue color scheme is one of its best look yet. That hue is the clear focal point, but it mixes nicely with Thunder Grey and Black to create an attractive sneaker that would be a welcomed addition to anyone’s sneaker lineup.
It’s extremely unfortunate that James’ legacy might be tarnished by the single most bone-headed play in the history of the NBA Finals. The fact that the King dropped 51, 8, and 8 and still lost just goes to show just how much of the load he’s carried (and it also reminds us of one of T-Mac’s adidas commercials back when he was with Orlando). Regardless of what transpired, LeBron showed up dressed to the nines on the court as he sported an elegant white/gold PE of his Nike LeBron 15, but made personal with his tribute to his wife and kids via the scribblings on the Flyknit upper.
