In an effort to create lifestyle-ready that has the ability to be worn in any climate and nearly any situation, the iconic Converse brand is ready to introduce its brand new Mountain Club Collection. Hinging on the success of three of the brand’s staples, Converse is calling upon the talents of the One Star, the Fastbreak, and the Chuck Taylor All Star to introduce this new utilitarian capsule. Equipped with Gore-Tex-infused linings and DWR-coated uppers, these three creations also opt for an on-trend deconstructed aesthetic that comes highlighted by embellishments the likes of “KEEP DOUBLE LACED TO HOLD FIRMLY” written on the midfoot of each iteration. A clear militaristic theme completes this utilitarian look, creating formidable footwear that can equally act as a fall weather statement piece.
During the era where high-top leather ruled the market, Converse entered the scene with the ERX line of footwear. Terms like Energy Wave might ring a bell if you were around during the 1989 launch, and if it does hit that nostalgic note, then you’ll certainly remember Magic Johnson wearing the Converse ERX as well. Earlier this week, Converse officially unveiled the first-ever re-issue of the ERX with a collaborative effort with Chicago’s Don C. His Converse ERX 260 was dressed in pony hair materials and leopard prints, but it appears that there’s more to the partnership as Don C posted a photo on Instagram showcasing various details such zebra-prints, metal studs, and more. It’s clear that Converse is aiming the fashion/lifestyle market with these offerings, but let’s hope that traditional leather versions aka the OGs make a return as well.
British designer is a master of reimagining the classic Converse Chuck Taylor. Having embellished the timeless sneaker with everything from all-over branding to toy-inspired uppers in the past, Anderson’s meaningful touches nod to both his personal history and his rich well of design inspirations. His latest take on the Converse classic? A “Felt” pack, offering a look that’s simultaneously simplified and refined. The shoes offer a deconstructed look and feel — as the soft felt upper touches the foot directly — and arrive in fall-ready colors both sophisticated and whimsical. A tonal Khaki Green pair provides a more elegant look, while two multi-color iterations — a Fluorescent Orange and a combo of pink, blue, and green — offer a much more colorful and playful vibe. The pack is then completed by a special “Quiet Shade” pair, featuring a premium grey felt upper that wouldn’t look out-of-place when worn with a suit — which will only be available on JW Anderson’s webstore and at his London retail locations.
