Nike’s rollout of bright-colored, ladies-only iterations of their new continues as this bright “University Gold” colorway is set to drop this week. Featuring a bright gold Flyknit upper with a gold plastic heel cage, the laceless shoe also offers black Air Max branding on the tongue and reflective detailing on the lateral Swoosh and heel tab for a pop of style. The shoe’s look is rounded off with a crystal-clear Vapormax cushioning unit with more yellow accents and a checkerboard-patterned yellow insole.



The made its global debut back in March on Air Max Day in the clean and cool “Pure Platinum” colorway for both men and women. Since then, Nike’s relentless push of the Vapormax has led to an eclectic mix of colorways hitting store shelves, but not have the impact quite like the one that started it all.

It’s been some time since we’ve heard from the . After a strong start that saw a handful of monochromatic Flyknit colorways arrive then disappear as quickly as possible from global retailers, the futuristic Air Max offering has taken a little breather to allow for Nike’s retro options to put in some work. That will all change next week as a number of new VaporMax colorways created by NikeLab will arrive in limited quantities on Thursday, June 29th.

These looks differ due to the implementation of multiple shades, unlike past releases that usually kept the new look alive and well with one dominant color. The stands out for its use of Midnight Fog and Desert Moss with contrasting gold-like speckling hitting throughout the breathable Flyknit textile. The women’s exclusive Nike VaporMax Tea Berry is enough to make those unable to fit into a pair jealous. The violet tones on the Swoosh branding and full-length Air Max outsole contrast a Taupe Grey with speckles of College Navy throughout.

Last week we got a first look at a leaked sample, and now we get a better look at the shoe in question and also learn an important detail: it’s a Vapormax Strap. The yet-unreleased version of the VaporMax with no laces and an added midfoot strap looks like it may be introduced at retail just like the standard VaporMax, by dropping a collab with CDG first before the general release colorways are launched.
