They , of course, would like to end the season with a bang and go out with a win over a play-off bound division rival. And the Giants would sure like to get Saquon Barkley in the records books. On the other hand, the Cowboys SHOULD want to go in to the post-season able to say they won seven of their last eight games — rather than limp in, losing two of their last three and losing to a division rival. The Dallas offensive line is still banged up and Zack Martin missed one practice and was limited in another. However, the Giants’ defense has struggled to slow down even injured offenses, and the addition of Amari Cooper changes the calculus from the first time these teams met back in week two. This team is simply better with Odell Beckham than without, but Evan Engram, Sterling Shepard, and Saquon Barkley is still a talent pool which several teams in the NFL would be happy to have.If the Giants can go back to their game plan from the first half of the Colts game, and expand upon it rather than regress, I think they have a puncher’s chance of making this game interesting. But are we talking about Demarcus Lawrence on the edge or a rotation of backups? Is it Dak Prescott throwing the ball or is it Cooper Rush? It sounds like the only way those backups come in is if this game is out of hand early with the starters. And if it’s not and the starters play the whole game , well then Dallas has the advantage there too. Despite being out of playoff contention, the Giants made it very clear they would be going out with a fight after narrowly losing to the Colts last Sunday. You can expect them to have the same intentions against a Dallas team that has already clinched the NFC East. The Cowboys have been one of the most wildly inconsistent offensive teams. They have gone from games in which they scored huge point totals to being shut out completely. However, this Sunday will be a productive one for the Cowboys. Behind the legs of Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas will produce huge rushing numbers against an already porous Giants run defense. Saquon Barkley has struggled tremendously in the last few weeks against two of the stronger run defenses in the NFL. Dallas this season is only allowing 91.3 rush yards per game, making it another tough matchup for Barkley. This game will be going down to the wire, but will not end in favor of the Giants once again. Since the NFL moved towards an emphasis on divisional games in the final week of the season back in 2010, there have been situations, such as the Sunday night game between the Colts and the Titans, when playoff berths are on the line.That is not the case when the Cowboys and Giants square off Sunday. Dallas is locked into the fourth seed in the NFC and as such, making sure their starters are healthy is their priority come kickoff. The Giants, eliminated from the playoffs, are playing more for pride. (AP) — Odell Beckham Jr. said he spoke with his New York Giants teammates hours before Sunday’s 33-31 loss to the Carolina Panthers to clear the air over comments he made last week.Beckham had talked about quarterback Eli Manning and why the team isn’t throwing the ball farther downfield and playing with more energy. He said after the game that “sometimes stuff comes off the wrong way” and that “words can be portrayed in any kind of light.”But the 25-year-old receiver was quick to add he doesn’t regret anything he said.“It took that for us to come together as a team like we did today, I can take that every single time,” Beckham said.The Giants lost on a 63-yard field goal by Carolina’s Graham Gano with 1 second remaining after battling back to erase an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit.When asked last week if there was an issue at quarterback , Beckham told ESPN, “I don’t know. Like I said, I feel like he’s not going to get out the pocket. He’s not — we know Eli’s not running it. But is it a matter of time issue?”He also said, “How come we can’t throw the ball for more than 20 yards? How come we don’t attempt or try to throw the ball for more than 20 yards? Those are questions that we have to figure out, but for now I would say it’s our heart, it’s our energy.”Beckham had easily his best game of the season Sunday with eight catches for 131 yards and a touchdown. He also threw a 57-yard touchdown pass to running back Saquon Barkley after receiving a lateral from Manning.The Giants had completed only two passes of 30 yards or more this season entering Sunday, and they have only nine passes of 20 yards or greater. They had six pass plays of longer than 20 yards against the Panthers, including Beckham’s 33-yard touchdown catch from Manning.Beckham said he texted coach Pat Shurmur to ask if he could address his teammates.“It had been on my heart since the Dallas game, honestly,” Beckham said. “All the stuff that had built up inside, it came out in the wrong way. … If we’re not all on the same page, if it’s not all authentic and real, and if we can’t understand each other, there will always be miscommunication.”Manning downplayed Beckham’s comments after the game, saying he and Beckham “have a great relationship” and “our mindset will be everybody stay focused on beating Philadelphia (on Thursday night).”Shurmur said he addressed the issue with Beckham and the team — and made it clear he wants to get past it all.“I publicly declared that I didn’t agree with his comments and I asked anybody that was interested if they wanted clarification (to) go to Odell because he’s a big man,” Shurmur said. “Now , I’m not going to give the public a pound of flesh on this, all right?
