Today, they recorded the same number of hits as the Fish, but were unable to cross home plate. Dahl, Arenado, and Tapia were the only non-pitchers to not strike out, but no one struck out more than once.On a positive note, Ryan McMahon reached on an infield single to start his 2019 campaign off with a four game hitting streak. Not howling, but it’s a startJon Gray recorded a quality start , giving up three runs on five hits in 62鈦? innings. He was lifted in the seventh after he stepped funny on the mound, but not after recording ten strikeouts for the 13th time in his career.Luckily for Gray, he was able to recover from some traffic and unfortunate circumstances. For instance, Sandy Alcntara recorded his first career hit, but then Gray was able to lure Rosell Herrera into a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning. He also followed up JT Riddle’s solo shot by getting Peter O’Brien to groundout and striking out Lewis Brinson. Overall, Gray recorded ten strikeouts and six groundouts. Manager Alex Cora nearly used Moreland as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning but thought it would be better to wait.Good choice.“When you get to that situation or think you might be in it, you try to prepare the best you can and be ready for it when it comes,” Moreland said.Moreland connected for a three-run homer in the ninth inning and the World Series champion Red Sox rallied for their first win of the season, beating the Seattle Mariners 7-6 on Friday night.A day after losing its opener 12-4, Boston bounced back by rallying from a 6-1 deficit, capping the comeback with Moreland’s shot.
