The New York Yankees are home and are themselves trying to break a three-game losing streak, as they were just swept by the Houston Astros. Lucas Giolito is on the mound tonight , looking to recover from his last tough outing against the streaking Mariners. We can only hope Giolito’s outing goes somewhat like his very first start of the season, where he gave up just two earned runs and took a no-hitter into the seventh inning. J.A. Happ will be Giolito’s opponent. Happ has only pitched against the Baltimore Orioles this year and has given up six earned runs in 8 ?innings, which isn't too good considering the Orioles were the worst team in baseball last year — and might be this year, too. I like to think the White Sox are a better team than Baltimore and will hopefully be able to score early and often off of Happ. The Yankees have 12 players on the injured list currently, Gary Sanchez being the latest one, officially deactivated before today’s game. Some big-name players on the IL for the Yankees include Miguel Andujar , Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Hicks, Jacoby Ellsbury, Didi Gregorius, Luis Severino, CC Sabathia , and Dellin Betances. The Yankees IL could probably win more games than the 2019 White Sox. Hopefully the White Sox can take advantage of the short-handed Yankees this weekend, and take the series from them.
