The Managing Director of Nigeria Bottling Company (NBC), Georgios Polymenakos has said the Super Eagles of Nigeria have what it takes to lift the 2018 edition of the FIFA World Cup in Russia next summer. Who knows in few years, we may be hosting the World Cup here. Maybe it [the World Cup trophy] will be kept by the Super Eagles. I am very optimistic on what this amazing team [Super Eagles] can do because the passion for football here in Nigeria is much," Polymenakos said.He noted that he thought Greece [his country] was very passionate about football but he had seen much more passion for the round leather game in Nigeria.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Mr. Olusade Adesola said the present of the trophy in Nigeria will stimulate the government to support the Super Eagles to do well at the competition.
The trophy, on a tour of 91 cities in 51 countries across six continents before the finals, touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 11am yesterday. Today, a whole-day consumer viewing of the trophy is planned for the Old Parade Ground, Abuja.
This is the fourth Global Tour by the FIFA World Cup Trophy, and the third time it would be visiting Nigeria.
