Many sneakerheads may have never heard of or are too familiar with this silhouette. If you hadn't read the title, would you know what sneaker this is? For those of you that don't know this is the Nike Air Max Plus Tuned 1. Yeah I know, pretty long name. The Air Max Plus Tuned 1 comes with Obsidian on the majority of the mesh upper with gradient Blue Lagoon stripes running vertically on the side panels. Blue Lagoon is also present on the Swoosh logo and on the outsole.
The is a silhouette you don't see too often, and Nike has released a few new colorways of the shoe here and there over the last year. Now we have some new images of another version to take a look at. This time around the Air Max Plus Tuned 1, which has been dubbed "Bullet", is done in a combo of Dark Grey, Blue and Bright Crimson.
As of late it’s been re-releasing in OG colorways like the "Hyper Blue," and now yet another classic color is set to make a triumphant return to market: the "Voltage Purple." The masterful features a purple gradient fade on the upper that starts dark on the bottom and gradually becomes lighter towards the tongue, while the upper’s plastic overlays and mudguard are dressed in black to contain the colorful base. A bright orange appears on the Swoosh and Air Max units, and the look is completed by a purple midfoot shank, white midsole, black outsole, and — of course — a classic TN badge on the heel.
Nike’s own logo is arguably one of the most recognizable to grace sneaker culture, garnering overwhelming awareness from the oldest of grandmas to the youngest of sneakerheads. Taking the mantle of the minimal , the Beaverton brand is now redefining the minimal upper of the model with the over-branding motif seen on many recent offerings. Alongside the typical swoosh found on both the lateral and medial side is a much larger printed variation, adding a dual logo hit to a subtle palette of black and white.
Designer Sean McDowell drew the original inspiration for the design from a beautiful Florida sunset, giving the mesh upper a striking ombre effect that fades from a light orange to a vibrant crimson and truly earns the shoe its nickname. Wavy black synthetic overlays mirror the sway of palm trees in the tropical breeze, and branding arrives via a classic Tuned Air heel badge and red midfoot swoosh. A black mudguard and translucent plastic toe cap provide finishing details to the upper, and the shoe is then completed by a white midsole with a two-tone midfoot plate and an orange Air Max unit.
