Thigpen In an unsurprising move , new owner David Tepper has decided to part ways with a longstanding member of the Panthers staff. Team attorney Richard Thigpen has been relieved of his duties as reported earlier by Darin Gantt at Pro Football Talk.Thigpen had been with the team for over 20 years, and there may have been another reason behind the firing besides Tepper wanting “his people.” It’s entirely possible that Tepper is trying to steer the organization away from Jerry Richardson’s legacy, as Thigpen becomes the second member from Richardson’s regime to leave the Panthers since the sale was finalized. (Former COO Tina Becker resigned on Monday.) Thigpen oversaw the now infamous non disclosure agreements with multiple former employees who alleged workplace misconduct against Richardson. It has since come to light that those former employees were the victims of racial and sexual workplace misconduct, which directly led to the sale of the Panthers. So far in his short tenure as Panthers owner , David Tepper has seemingly distanced himself from Jerry Richardson at every opportunity that would not affect football operations. I would expect similar changes to be in the works as well, as Tepper continues to clean up the organization. Sorry we didn’t record a mid-episode this week. Life happens sometimes. But don’t worry, we cram in a review session about the Carolina Panthers blowout win over the Baltimore Ravens last week. We talked about the game’s standout performers and the wild happenings that culminated in a Panthers field goal attempt in the waning moments of the first half. We also preview the Panthers upcoming game against the Tamp Bay Buccaneers. We talk about how bad Jameis Winston is, how good the Bucs offense is , and how bad the Bucs defense is. There are extremes all over the place. It’s wild. As always, we give score predictions. To wrap up, by user request, we reflect on how well the Panthers rookie class has performed so far this season , along with a couple guys that are de facto rookies after seeing limited playing time last season. Also Brad and I have concluded that Brian hates Cam Newton. Download and subscribe on iTunes, Spotify, and Google Podcasts.
