Forrest Gump's sneakers have never looked quite like this. 2013's ongoing rebirth for this classic silhouette will next take the form of the (That's "Natural Motion"). That build features a bunch of 3M flash slipped into the shoes via the tongue and a couple of tape pieces around the perimeter. The good news is that they're getting a widespread release here in the USA-Extra Butter for example will have them in store tomorrow, December 5th.

Nike Sportswear was very low-key in celebrating the 40th anniversary last year. This shoe known to be among the most popular choices in Southern California was mostly honored in Asia for the 40th, so it's natural to see these five new ‘Asia City Pack' Quickstrikes focus on the region's metro areas. In fact, all of these new drops are centered on China, as we see the Nike Cortez take on colorways inspired by Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taipei.

The running shoe that iconized returns in the form of a quintet, representing five key cities in Asia. The shoe we're referring to is the Nike Cortez, seen here in a variety of clear color-combinations with the Retro Nike Pinwheel logo on the heel-tab and abbreviation of the city that each version represents. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Taipei are in focus in the Nike Cortez "Asia City Pack", so check out the five colorways below and stay tuned to sneaker News for release updates – although these are likely to be exclusive to the Eastern Hemisphere.

Forrest Gump's estate has to be one of the best fictitious fortunes in movie history. Apple investments, table tennis sponsorships, oh and a footwear deal with championing the Nike Cortez. This actually translated into real life, sort of, as the Cortez returns in three original premium incarnations, two of which you'll remember were featured prominently throughout the Oscar-winning film. Each of the Cortez trio dons a leather upper while the vintage tongue returns to show the exposed pre-aged foam. 43-years after changing the sport of running forever, the Cortez looks as good on-feet as ever.

Is it a coincidence that Nike's decided to bring back some original colorways of the featured in Forrest Gump twenty years after the film was an Oscars darling, taking home Best Picture and five other awards? We don't think so. While the Swoosh has shied away from making any official connection, those of you who spend an equal amount of your time obsessing over sneakers as you do films (or just tune into TBS every other day to see the movie in heavy syndication), you might remember the Cortez receiving some shine in the spotlight. The White/Varisty Red-Varsity Royal pair is definitely more recognizable, but this muted white leather and black colorway is classic enough to wear on any occasion.
